OH P.City - perfect city!

OH P.CITY, perfect city!

The concept of a society living in ideal conditions was created in the form of P.City and was initiated for a campaign held in Hamburg in May 2007.
Me and my colleague Lisa Bucher built a 15 squaremeter model out of paperboard and paper.
On our website www.unser-pcity.de we asked for the wishes and ideas of a perfect city and
how people would like to live in it. We focused a lot more on the work‘s social aspect than on its town-planning.

In the end we had a very densely populated, colorful and multifaceted P.City. It was a trial, a play, a big discussion, an experiment with an unforeseeable end – the very collective-utopia.

For documentation purposes we designed a poster with information on the project on the one side and a huge collage on the other side. This poster will keep the spirit of P.City alive, even after the project has come to an end.
P.City grew over 30 days. A 24 hour web cam allowed the visitors to monitor the development of their ideas.
In addition to that we published a daily photo documentation on what was happening in P.City.

We also published the daily P.City newspaper »PAZ«, reflecting what was going on in the city.
Each issue featured a special illustration.
To call people‘s attention to the plattform we also designed posters and stickers.

The complete design of the campaign »P.City« was based on the font »typestar« and the corporate colors
of light brown and cyan. They refer to the material the model was made of, mainly cardboard, paper and scrap.
The design‘s aim was to be playfull and appealing thus making it easy for people to join in.

P.City received the »special distinction«-award 2008 of »:output«,
an international contest for design-students and design-graduate works
